The best rap

The BBC take it to the lanes
Project Thirty Three is a shrine to the seemingly infinite number of vintage record jackets that convey their message with only simple shapes and typography.
Lovingly collected and presented by Jive Time Records from Seattle, Project Thirty-Three is 'our personal collection and shrine to circles and dots, squares and rectangles, and triangles, and the designers that make these shapes come to life on album covers.'
The majority of the work here is from the 50s through to the 70s and can be filtered by shape, typography, artist and record label. A truly amazing resource for design inspiration, you've don't need to join many (ahem) dots to see the cues our visuals have taken from here over the years.
It totally blows my dome to see the mileage you can get from combining simple shapes with texture, colour and typography. Make sure you check out the full Project 33 collection and peruse the other artwork sites from Jive Time that cover pop art, psychedelia and stereo stacks.
